State Radio “Bikes Not Bombs” Concert
State Radio’s August 2 show at Bank of America Pavilion on the Boston Harbor is a special concert designed to raise awareness for the Bikes Not Bombs organization. “Although it seems a tall order, the more we empathize globally with everyone living on this planet, we can create a consciousness moving towards peace,” says State Radio lead singer/guitarist Chad Stokes. “If we want to watch our kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids thrive, we need to get together and see our similarities more than our differences.
“Bikes Not Bombs offers a grassroots way for everyone to make an impact,” Stokes adds. “It will be great to see how many kids can actually take public transportation or ride their bike [to the show]. The symbolism of easing off the carbon footprint we all place on a daily level is a step in the right direction.” Continue reading ‘State Radio “Bikes Not Bombs” Concert’

Voices For Change
You gotta allow at least a smirk about a tour by a band named Outlandish that promises “no controversial lyrics, no profanity, and no references to drugs, alcohol, or violence.” But there you have it. The European hip-hop group’s US debut sees them topping this summer’s Voices For Change tour.
Outlandish, whose sound takes influences from the members’ various backgrounds—Moroccan/Arab/Amazigh, Pakistani/Punjabi, and Latin American—is composed of three longtime friends, two Muslims and one Christian. The content and lyrics of their songs, which are primarily in English but usually feature lyrics in Spanish, Urdu/Punjabi, Danish, and Arabic, are reportedly written to remind people of their potential and convey positive messages about life and self-fulfillment. Their music videos are devoid of any references to sex and drugs, and contain no “negative” language. Continue reading ‘Voices For Change’
